December 2025 update
We’ve released a new Tuya app for Homey. This is a separate app, built with a different authentication method than before.
If you already have the old Tuya app installed, it will continue to work as long as Tuya allows it. You don’t need to take any action.
New users, or those who want to switch, can install the latest app from the Homey App Store. It supports the same device types and works with both the Tuya Smart and Smart Life apps.
As before, continued functionality ultimately depends on Tuya’s platform and policies.
February 2025 update
In 2024, we proudly announced our partnership with Tuya to improve device support in the Homey ecosystem. However, Tuya unexpectedly revoked API access, breaching our agreement and leaving many smart homes in the dark.
We’ve been working with Tuya to resolve this issue for months. Unfortunately, it has become evident that a resolution is unlikely, soon or at all. Read the entire update.
Original instructions
Homey’s Tuya app works with the Tuya Smart and Smart Life apps for iOS and Android. Please add your Tuya devices to one of these apps before connecting them to Homey.
Receiving an error message?
The official Tuya app for Homey does not function for new users due to Tuya revoking API access. You will receive an error stating “No matching app user information.”
1. Connecting with Tuya Smart
Follow the steps below to link your devices to Tuya Smart. Note that your products may be connected to another Tuya-based app, like Calex. If so, please ensure that you’ve unlinked them before continuing.
Tuya Smart or Smart Life?
Simply choose the app you prefer. Just make sure to use one app for all your devices.
Step 1
Download the Tuya Smart (or Smart Life) app for Android or iOS.
Step 2
Log in or create a Tuya account.
Step 3
Connect your Tuya devices in the Tuya Smart (or Smart Life) app.
Step 4
Proceed to the next section once your devices are listed under All Devices.
2. Connecting with Homey
After connecting with Tuya Smart (or Smart Life), it’s time to add your Tuya products to Homey. Follow these instructions, and you’ll be set in no time.
Step 1
Open the Homey app and tap Devices in the tab bar.
Step 2
Tap → New Device in the upper-right corner.
Step 3
Search for Tuya and tap its logo.
Step 4
Tap the Tuya device you’d like to add.
Step 5
Tap Connect, and a new screen opens.
Step 6
Make sure you have added your devices to Tuya Smart (or Smart Life), then tap Continue.
Step 7
First, make sure that you select the correct country in the middle of the screen. Even if you are not providing your (mobile) phone number, Tuya uses this to determine your region.
Then enter your Tuya account email address, agree to the terms, and tap Next step.
Step 8
Check if Tuya Smart (or Smart Life) is selected, then tap Next step.
Step 9
Enter the password for your Tuya account, then tap Log in.
Step 10
Tap Confirm authorization.
Tap Done in the upper-left corner to return to the Homey app when authorized.
Step 11
Select the devices you want to add, then tap Continue. That’s it, you’re all set!
