With the Virtual Devices Experiment, you can add virtual buttons, switches, and IP cameras to Homey.
This feature is part of Homey Experiments
Experiments may change, break, or disappear without notice. Use them at your own risk.
Enable the Virtual Devices Experiment
- Go to More (…) → Settings → Experiments.
- Enable Virtual Devices.
- Go to the Devices tab.
- Tap
→ New Device, then tap Virtual Devices.
- Select the virtual device you want to add.
Virtual button
A virtual button can be turned on or off from Homey. Use it to start a Flow, trigger a routine, or create a manual control that does not need a physical device.
Virtual switch
A virtual switch can be turned on or off from Homey. You can also choose what kind of device it should behave like.
After adding it, open its settings and select a device type under What’s plugged in. This helps services like Google Home and Amazon Alexa control it correctly.
Virtual IP camera
A virtual IP camera lets you add a camera image to Homey using an HTTP snapshot URL, for example: http://192.168.1.100/snapshot.jpg. After adding the camera, you can use its image tag in your Flows.
