Homey works with numerous brands of cameras. Most cloud-connected cameras, like Doorbird, Netatmo, and more can be added to Homey by installing their apps on Homey via the Homey App Store. Adding a camera to Homey works just like adding any device to Homey.
Camera setup instructions
- Open the Homey app and select
Devices
in the tab bar below. - Tap the
+
symbol in the upper right corner → search for your brand → tap itslogo
. - When you've found the device you'd like to add, tap the
device's icon
→ confirm that you want to continue → tapInstall
. - Every device requires a different method of adding it to Homey. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the pairing sequence.
Camera automation with Flows
Once your camera is connected to Homey you are able to use it in your Flows. For example, when the doorbell is pressed, send an image to your phone. Or for safety; when a motion sensor detects movement, and no one is at home, send a snapshot.
If your brand of camera is not available in the Homey App Store yet, don't worry. Homey supports a lot of IP cameras via the Virtual Camera device. This provides an experience that is a bit less than you're used to with Homey apps, but it allows you to add almost all cameras to Homey based on their IP in your network.
