You can clone the buttons of most 433 MHz remotes to Homey.
You need one of the following:
- Homey Pro
- Homey Pro mini with Homey Bridge in Satellite Mode
- Homey Cloud with Homey Bridge
Remotes that use rolling code, like car keys and garage door openers, can’t be cloned reliably.
Clone a button
-
Open the Homey app and tap Devices in the tab bar.
-
In the upper-right corner, tap
→ New Device.
-
Under Technologies, tap 433 MHz.
-
Tap Clone Button and follow the on-screen instructions.
Tips for cloning a 433 MHz remote
- Make sure no other remotes are transmitting while Homey listens for your remote’s signal.
- Hold the remote close to Homey Pro or Homey Bridge.
- Press the button on your remote once, the same way you would to control the device.
- After cloning a button, test it by tapping the Play button next to it.
Compatible apps
Homey will automatically search for a compatible app for your remote, as this typically offers a better experience. If apps are found, you’ll see a list of apps after cloning the first button.
Signal consistency
Some remotes, such as car keys or garage door openers, use a mechanism called rolling code. This means the signal changes with each button press.
Homey might replay these signals successfully, but your receiver will not respond correctly. For best results, make sure that your remote always sends the same signal.
