You can connect Homey Pro mini to a PC or Mac to create a local backup, restore it, update the software, and perform a factory reset. We’ll guide you through the steps.
1. Unplug Homey Pro mini
Disconnect Homey Pro mini from its power adapter and move it near your PC or Mac.
2. Visit the Homey USB Tool
Visit the Homey USB Tool in Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, or another Chromium-based browser. You can also access it by visiting My Devices on the Homey website.
In the Homey USB Tool, click Homey Pro mini to begin.
3. Press and hold a long pin
Make sure Homey Pro mini is powered off. Then, using a long pin, press and hold the pinhole next to the USB-C port.
While holding it, connect the USB-C cable to your PC or Mac. The LED will breathe orange, indicating that DFU Mode (Device Firmware Update Mode) is active.
4. Using the USB Tool
Click on Next in the browser, and select the USB device called BCM2711 Boot. The USB Tool will then continue loading and present you with these options.
Create BackupThis action creates a full system backup of Homey Pro mini, including your settings, apps, experiments, and system software. The result is a file with a .homeyprobackup extension. |

Update SoftwareThis action installs the latest software for Homey Pro mini. If experimental updates are enabled, the latest experimental version will be installed. |
