Homey Self-Hosted Server can connect to a Homey Bridge in Satellite Mode, adding support for Zigbee, Z-Wave, Bluetooth LE, 433 MHz, and Infrared devices throughout your home.
Homey Self-Hosted Server supports multiple Homey Bridges. Additional Bridges can be added the same way. The first one you pair becomes your Zigbee and Z-Wave controller.
Homey Bridge is designed for use within a single location. Satellite Mode does not extend Zigbee or Z-Wave to another building, even when all devices are on the same network.
Add Homey Bridge as a Satellite
1. Plug in Homey Bridge
Plug in Homey Bridge and wait for the LED Ring to breathe blue. This means it’s ready for setup and not yet paired to a Homey.
If Homey Bridge is still paired to another Homey, reset it before you proceed.
2. Open the Homey app
Open the Homey app and tap Devices in the tab bar.
3. Add a new device
Tap in the upper-right corner, then tap New Device.
4. Connect Homey Bridge
Homey Self-Hosted Server will search for nearby devices. A dialog appears within seconds. Tap Connect Homey Bridge and follow the instructions.
Once connected, Homey Bridge appears as a device in Homey and is ready to use.
Choose an antenna per device
Homey Bridge can act as a transmitter for your Infrared and 433 MHz devices. You can choose which Homey Bridge to use as the antenna per device.
For example, if you have a TV in the bedroom, place a Homey Bridge near it. That Bridge will transmit Infrared signals to the TV instead of a Bridge in another room.
To set this up, open the Advanced Settings of a 433 MHz or Infrared device. Tap Antenna, then tap the antenna you want to use.
The device’s app must support Satellite Mode and have transmitted at least once before the antenna setting appears.
Receive 433 MHz signals
Homey Bridge can also act as a receiver for your 433 MHz devices. This works automatically after adding Homey Bridge as a Satellite to Homey Self-Hosted Server.
In rare cases, Homey Self-Hosted Server and Homey Bridge may receive the same 433 MHz signal simultaneously, causing Flows to run twice.
To fix this, disable Receive 433 MHz signals in Homey Bridge’s Advanced Settings.
