Adjust your dynamic electricity price in Homey

Homey’s Dynamic Electricity Prices feature automatically retrieves the live market prices for your region. However, most energy providers add a fixed amount per kilowatt-hour (kWh) on top of the market price, and local taxes may also apply. 

These extra costs mean the market price may differ from what you actually pay your provider. By adjusting the price calculation in Homey, you can include these surcharges and taxes so the price shown matches your real cost per kWh.

How to adjust the calculation

1. Go to the Homey Energy tab

Open the Homey app and tap Energy in the bottom tab bar.

2. Tap Customize

Scroll down on the Homey Energy tab and tap Customize.

3. Switch to Dynamic Electricity Prices

Tap Electricity Costs and switch to Dynamic.

4. Opt for Tariff & Tax or Formula

Choose the method that best fits your needs. 

Tariff & Tax is the easiest option. Simply enter your fixed surcharges and tax percentage. In supported regions, you can also choose between hourly and quarterly intervals.

Formula offers maximum flexibility for those who need a fully customized calculation, such as when dealing with complex contracts or variable markups.

You can use standard math expressions in the calculation field.

Example formula:

( + 0.0248 + 0.12635 ) * 1.21 

Explanation:

• — the current dynamic market price fetched by Homey
• 0.0248 — energy provider’s markup (in €/kWh)
• 0.12635 — fixed tax (in €/kWh)
• 1.21 — adds 21% VAT over the combined value

Homey automatically applies this calculation and updates the displayed electricity price, helping you verify if the adjusted value matches your actual cost per kWh.
