By default, Homey assumes your panels face south at a standard tilt. If your setup is different, entering your actual panel details will improve the forecast accuracy.
Before you start
Have the orientation, tilt, and total peak power (in Wp) of your panels ready. If your panels face more than one direction, you’ll need this information for each group.
- Orientation
The compass direction your panels face. Choose from: North, North-East, East, South-East, South, South-West, West, or North-West. - Tilt
How steeply the panels are mounted. Choose the option closest to your situation.- Flat — around 15°, for panels lying nearly flat
- Average — around 30°, for typically pitched panels
- Steep — around 45°, for steeply pitched panels
- Total peak power
The combined DC peak capacity of your panels in Wp, as listed on the panel specifications. For example, 10 panels of 300 Wp each is 3,000 Wp. Leave it blank, and Homey estimates it from your past production.
Set up your panels
- Open the Homey app and tap Energy in the bottom tab bar.
- Scroll to the bottom of the Energy tab and tap Settings.
- Under Solar, tap Panel Configuration.
- Set the orientation, tilt, and total peak power for your panels.
- If your panels face more than one direction, tap Add Group and repeat for each direction. You can add up to 5 groups.
- Tap Save.
After saving
Allow a few sunny days for the forecast to reflect your updated settings.
