The Energy-tab is in public beta, starting with Homey Pro (Early 2023) v12.3.0 and the Homey app v9.1.0. Here, you can find helpful information and tips on using Homey Energy during the beta testing phase.
Getting started
Step 1
First, update your Homey Pro (Early 2023) to the v12.3.0 Experimental firmware. If you're new to this process, refer to this article.
Step 2
Next, join the TestFlight program for iOS or the Open Beta program for Android to receive experimental app updates.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which smart meters are compatible with the Energy-tab?
The new Energy-tab works best with the Homey Energy Dongle. However, many third-party dongles, such as Tibber Pulse, Homewizard P1 Meter, are already supported, and even more will follow during the beta period.
What does "This energy meter measures real-time energy usage only" mean?
For Homey to identify imported and exported energy, smart meter apps must include specific properties. While many apps have been updated, some still need to. If you see this message, we cannot determine your home's imported or exported kilowatt-hours (kWh). We are working with app developers to enable full support for all smart meters.
Why am I not seeing older data?
To facilitate this feature, Homey must begin storing new data, which started with Homey Pro (Early 2023) v12.3.0. The information displayed in the Energy-tab was unavailable previously and cannot be created retroactively.
Homey will store a maximum of 31 days of daily reports and summarize older reports in weekly, monthly, and yearly reports, stored indefinitely.
Why am I not seeing gas or water usage?
To see gas or water usage, you must have added a device to Homey that measures gas or water usage.
Why am I not seeing my device in Top Consumers?
The list includes devices that measure kWh energy consumption themselves. Devices that approximate energy (e.g., through the "Power usage when off"/" Power usage when on" or "Constant power usage") are not included.
How is the Electricity Total price calculated?
The price shown above the Electricity Total graph represents the cost of imported electricity. It doesn't reflect exported prices, as regulations for selling energy back to the grid vary by region.
What are the real-time tiles below the home?
Smart meter devices in your home track total home energy consumption. The tile displays the current measured energy consumption in Watts. Solar panel devices display the currently measured energy production in Watts.
What do the values above the home represent?
Grid is the net value of your home's energy consumption in kWh. Solar Panels is the energy generated in kWh of all solar panels in your home. Home is your home's energy consumption in kWh, either as reported by your smart meter or, when there is no smart meter available, as the sum of all energy consuming devices available in Homey.
What do the flowing energy animations represent?
They represent live energy consumption in Watts flowing in specific directions. For example, solar generation consumed entirely by the home will flow from the solar panels to the home. Excess energy generation will also flow to the grid.
